The gigajoule (GJ) is also equal to 1018 nanojoules (nJ), or 1015 microjoules (μJ), or 1012 millijoules (mJ), or 1,000,000 kilojoules (kJ), or 1,000 megajoules (MJ) or 0.001 terajoules (TJ).

One gigajoule is equal to one billion joules. The joule is the energy consumed or work done when a force of one newton acts to move an object through a distance of one meter or the energy required to produce one watt of power for one second.
