The fermi conversion selector above selects the length/distance measurement unit to convert to starting from fermi (fm). To make a conversion starting from a unit of length other than fermi, simply click on the "Reset" button.
About fermi
The fermi is a unit of length in the metric system equal to 10-15 meters (1 fm = 10-15 m). 1 fermi is also equal to 10-6 nanometers (nm), or 10-9 micrometers (μm), or 10-12 millimeters (mm) or 10-13 centimeters (cm).
One fermi corresponds to one femtometer.
The fermi unit is named after the Italian physicist Enrico Fermi who is well known for his seminal contributions to atomic and nuclear physics. Enrico Fermi lived between 1901 and 1954.
The fermi measurement unit is used in nuclear physics.
