About fermi

The fermi is a unit of length in the metric system equal to 10-15 meters (1 fm = 10-15 m). 1 fermi is also equal to 10-6 nanometers (nm), or 10-9 micrometers (μm), or 10-12 millimeters (mm) or 10-13 centimeters (cm).

One fermi corresponds to one femtometer.

The fermi unit is named after the Italian physicist Enrico Fermi who is well known for his seminal contributions to atomic and nuclear physics. Enrico Fermi lived between 1901 and 1954.

The fermi measurement unit is used in nuclear physics.
