The terawatt hour, or terawatt-hour, is a unit of energy equal to 3.6 × 1015 joules (1 TWh = 3.6 × 1015 J), the SI derived unit of energy.

The terawatt hour (TWh) is also equal to 3.6 × 1012 kilojoules (kJ), or 8.6042065009 × 1011 kilocalories (thermochemical) (kcal), or 3.6 × 1015 watt seconds (Ws), or 1012 watt hours (Wh), or 1,000,000,000 kilowatt hours (kWh), or 1,000,000 megawatt hours (MWh) or 1,000 gigawatt hours (GWh).

The terawatt hour is used for metering large amounts of electrical energy to industrial customers.
