The terajoule is a unit of energy or work equal to 1012 joules (1 TJ = 1012 J), the SI derived unit of energy.

The terajoule (TJ) is also equal to 1021 nanojoules (nJ), or 1018 microjoules (μJ), or 1015 millijoules (mJ), or 109 kilojoules (kJ), or 1,000,000 megajoules (MJ) or 1,000 gigajoules (GJ).

One terajoule is equal to one trillion joules. The joule is the energy consumed or work done when a force of one newton acts to move an object through a distance of one meter or the energy required to produce one watt of power for one second.
